The Congress for Democracy and Progress (CDP) has come out of its silence since the verdict in the trial of the assassination of President Thomas Sankara and his twelve companions. During a press conference this Friday in Ouagadougou, Eddie Komboigo, the party president, said that the former ruling party refrained from commenting on this court decision. But he still condemned the statements of some lawyers for the civil parties.

It was under police surveillance that the leadership of the party founded by former President Blaise Compaoré held its press conference. Declining to comment the verdict of the murder trial of President Thomas Sankara and his collaborators, Eddie Komboigo, the president of the party, denounces the statements of certain lawyers for the civil parties.

« It is very regrettable that certain citizens arrogate to themselves the right to prohibit, under threat, the President of Faso and the transitional legislative assembly from thinking of using their constitutional prerogative to grant presidential pardon or pass an amnesty law. . The CDP calls on all the daughters and sons of the country to calm their hearts and move resolutely towards true national reconciliation.. »

On the political level, the CDP supports the authorities of the transition and also calls on the international community to help the country during this process. ” We take the opportunity of this platform to ask for support from the African Union, UEMOA, ECOWAS, the international community, the European Union and the UN in particular, in our fight once morest terrorism. »

Eddie Komboigo says he is ready to make local CDP committees available as part of the dialogue for the return of Burkinabè enlisted in armed groups.
