MEMBER of Commission IX DPR Edy Wuryanto expressed his readiness to follow up on the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) which
granted a number of lawsuits regarding Law No. 6/2023 concerning Job Creation filed by workers on Thursday (31/10). In its decision, the Constitutional Court revoked and revised 21 articles in the law.
“The Constitutional Court’s decision regarding the Job Creation Law decision will certainly receive attention. We are waiting for directions from the DPR leadership to follow up on the Constitutional Court’s decision,” said Edy in an official statement, Sunday (3/11).
In this decision, the MK mandated the government and DPR to form a new labor law and was given a maximum time of two years.

Edy hopes that the substance of the new Labor Law will be able to accommodate the material of the old labor law, namely Law No. 13/2003, and Law 6/2023, as well as the substance of the Constitutional Court’s decision.
“The time of up to two years for the formation of the new Employment Law is quite appropriate. Both the government and the DPR can prepare academic texts and other processes. Coordination between factions will also be carried out,” he said.
The PDIP politician also said that in accordance with the Constitutional Court’s decision, the new law must involve active participation from trade unions.

“The drafting of this new law will certainly involve active participation from the public. So that the results can be in favor of everyone,” said Edy.
He then reminded that the new Employment Law must be linear with government programs, support the investment climate, and be pro-community. The legislator from the Central Java III electoral district emphasized that the interests of all parties must be accommodated so that the new law can become a legal umbrella that does not cause controversy.
“I think all parties must win and later this law can be used according to the needs of the times,” he said.
Edy also highlighted the wage system which must pay attention to the components of a decent living for workers. The Constitutional Court, he said, mandates that wages can meet the living needs of workers and their families in terms of food, drink, clothing, housing, education, health, recreation and old age security.
“This will be one of the areas of focus in future discussions by the government and DPR,” he concluded. (E-2)
