After the arrival of the Zonda wind, where is San Juan in the temperature ranking?

San Juan residents were affected by the Zonda wind, which raised the temperature above 35ºC this Sunday. For this Tuesday, the forecast warned of another wind from the west, which placed San Juan in the top five one of the hottest places in the country.

In first place is the town of Las Lomitas, Formosa, with 38.2ºC. San Juan follows with 34.8, followed by the town of Córdoba Observatorio, in the homonymous province, with 32.9, Corrientes with 32.4 and the Presidente Roque Sáenz Peña town, Chaco, with 32.1ºC.

Although the situation this Monday was different with the presence of wind from the southern sector that made the maximum reach 27 ºC, a sudden change came on Tuesday with the arrival of a strong Zonda wind in the province. To anticipate the situation, HUARPE DAILY He consulted with two specialists from the provinces.

Germán Poblete, a climatologist, announced that by Tuesday it would be necessary to take the corresponding measures due to the arrival of the Zonda wind “during the siesta.” The specialist said that the average wind speed would be 50 kilometers per hour but warned that some gusts might reach 80. And so it was. Classes in schools were suspended for the followingnoon, while at the National University of San Juan (UNSJ) and the Catholic University of Cuyo (UCC) the same thing happened.

By Wednesday it will be cold, because the weather will continue to change in the coming days. Poblete announced that there will be “a drop in temperature due to the entry of a mass of cold air that will mean that the maximum does not exceed 24 ºC, while on Thursday it will reach 17 ºC, a situation that will continue until the weekend ”.

For his part, the meteorology student Ezequiel Simón, in charge of the Weather in San Juan broadcast page, advanced the yellow alert for this Tuesday.

Simón said that Tuesday’s day will be “marked by a Zonda wind with an intensity greater than 60 kilometers per hour that will arrive around noon and will gradually increase with peaks that can be felt following 8 pm with gusts of 80 or more. The phenomenon might extend until the early hours of Wednesday and would be more intense than that of Sunday.

According to the National Meteorological Service, the yellow alert means that “possible meteorological phenomena with the capacity for damage and risk of momentary interruption of daily activities are expected.”
