After the rescue operations, the Sharifian kingdom is now at the bedside of the particularly devastated province of Al-Haouz par the earthquake. The project is colossal: tens of thousands of houses to rebuild, public services and roads that will not only have to be restored, but also reinforced in these difficult-to-access areas of the High Atlas.
The drama is in this sense all the more painful as it hit a landlocked and particularly deprived region, which is home to the largest number of poor people in Morocco, according to a study by the High Commission for Planning published in 2017.
