“After the age of 35”: Medical tests that men should undergo annually

According to her, these tests are: evaluation of the level of testosterone, prolactin, luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) (produced by the pituitary gland and on which sperm production depends), globulin, and vitamin D.

“Young men should monitor their FSH levels, especially if they have a problem producing testosterone, as well as men who are planning to have children, because it helps assess sperm production,” she says.

According to her, increased prolactin negatively affects testosterone levels. There are many factors that cause increased prolactin levels, including pituitary tumors, stress, increased protein intake, lack of sleep, and intense exercise, so all factors should be taken into account when assessing prolactin levels.

She points out that an analysis should be conducted annually to evaluate the level of testosterone and the level of vitamin D. Because a low level negatively affects the level of testosterone, which affects the condition of the musculoskeletal system, muscle tissue, bone density, ligaments, cartilage, joints, hemoglobin, and the production of red blood cells.

Luteinizing hormone (LH) stimulates the production of testosterone. The level of this hormone may be low due to damage to the pituitary gland or high levels of estrogen, especially in obese men.

According to her, sex hormone-binding globulin plays an important role in assessing a man’s health status. Therefore, its level should be evaluated annually. Globulin is produced in the liver, and its high level in a man’s body indicates a low level of testosterone. Therefore, its high level is observed in men who suffer from insulin resistance and liver disease.
