After the Abu Dhabi attack, the coalition in Yemen announces its implementation of air strikes on Sanaa

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The coalition, led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Yemen, announced on Tuesday that it had carried out air strikes in the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, and targeted what it described as “terrorist leaders” north of Sanaa.

The coalition said that its air forces “carry out 24-hour operations over Sana’a,” and added, “We ask our people in Sana’a to stay away from the Houthi camps to ensure their safety,” according to what the Saudi “Al-Ikhbariya” channel reported.

The coalition confirmed that “the (F-15) attack aircraft destroyed two platforms for launching ballistic missiles that were used today. We targeted terrorist leaders north of the capital, Sana’a.”

He stated that “the Houthis’ targeting of civilians in the Kingdom and the UAE are war crimes whose perpetrators must be held accountable, and that the hostile actions of the Houthis are a threat to regional and international security.”

The coalition said: “The vicious hostile attack on the UAE is a cowardly, hostile act,” while noting that “in response to the threat and military necessity, air strikes began in Sana’a, and that the operational situation requires continuing strikes in response to the threat.”

The spokesman for the coalition, Turki Al-Maliki, confirmed that the coalition forces intercepted and destroyed 8 booby-trapped drones that were launched towards the Kingdom to target civilians, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

On the other hand, the pro-Houthi “Al Masirah” channel said, on its Twitter account, that there were casualties in raids on Sanaa.

CNN cannot independently verify what Al Masirah reported regarding casualties and their numbers.

The Houthis claimed attacks with “ballistic missiles, drones and winged aircraft”, on Monday, targeting facilities in the Mussafah area, and a site under construction at the new Abu Dhabi airport under construction, killing 3 people and wounding 8.

The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) confirmed the death of three employees in a fire caused by an “accident” at a fuel depot in Abu Dhabi.
