After more than seven hours of closure of the road that connects Medellín with the Port of Buenaventura due to a protest by the community of La Pintada, the passage of this important road has been reopened.

The mayor of La Pintada, Herman Antonio Correa, who served as mediator in the conflict between the inhabitants of his municipality and the National Infrastructure Agency (ANI) due to the failure to build some access roads to the town centre which, after the construction of the 4G highway, was left without them.

“Although an agreement was not reached, we committed ourselves to the leaders of the demonstration to serve as mediators and set up a dialogue table to present their demands,” said the president.

On Wednesday night, traffic on the road was completely normal, although there was a bit of vehicular chaos as there was a line of stopped cars in both directions of the highway, which reached 20 kilometers.

Correa hopes that in the coming days dialogue will begin between the leaders of the demonstration, the ANI, Invías and the concessionaire to prevent this road artery, which connects Medellín with Manizales, Armenia, Cali and Buenaventura, from being paralyzed again due to new protests.
