After Suhoor during the holy month of Ramadan, you begin to fall asleep, but our circadian rhythms or biological body clocks, may cause insomnia and lack of sleep easily.

Some people turn to medication or other methods in their quest for restful sleep, but there is one simple thing we can do to improve our sleep and health, and that is sleeping naked.

In the report, we explain why stripping before lying down might be good for us.

1. Reduces sleep disturbance

Without clothes to warm you, your body temperature will cool faster, and this drop will signal that it’s time to rest.

According to experts, temperature greatly affects the quality of your sleep, and if your body starts to overheat, you can get hot flashes and night sweats that knock you out of your dream state. Leaving the body naked will help reduce sleep disturbance.

2. It may be good for your mental health

Experts have proven a link between poor sleep and depression, and not getting enough sleep can make us more stressed and anxious, and negatively affect our emotional health.

If not falling asleep in bed helps us fall asleep faster and better, our mental health will be in a better place, too.

3. Helps you produce more brown fat

There are two types of fat in our body – white and brown. White fat is the one that builds up when you overeat, storing the extra calories in our thighs, hips and stomach.

Meanwhile, brown fat helps break down sugar and white fat to generate energy and provide warmth for our bodies. One study also found that brown fat filters amino acids and valine from the blood, reducing the risk of obesity and diabetes. Low temperatures lead to brown fat production, so if you want to shed some extra pounds, try ditching your pajamas.

4. Beneficial for our reproductive health.

Researchers learned that men who stripped down to their clothes had a 25% higher sperm concentration, and 17% higher sperm count, than those who wore tight-fitting panties.

Experts believe that tight underwear may warm the genitals of men, which leads to a lower sperm count.

For women, fitted underwear may increase the risk of vaginal yeast infections because bacteria thrive in warm, moist environments.

Leaving the woman’s parts to breathe by sleeping naked may reduce friction in sensitive areas and reduce the chances of irritation or complications.

Here are some tips to remember if you decide to forgo your nightwear.

Adopt good quality bedding and wash your sheets often.

It may be helpful to choose breathable fabrics and sheets made from natural materials such as cotton. Polyester and synthetic bedding can block airflow, undermining the purpose of sleeping naked. And since there’s direct transfer of sweat, bacteria, and saliva to the sheets, experts recommend washing bedding weekly, at least.

Keep the room at a cool temperature.

The best bedroom temperature for a comfortable sleep is around 18.3°C.

– Take a bath before drifting off to dreamland.

For those who suffer from cold hands and feet, showering an hour or two before bed can improve blood circulation and help regulate body temperature. And hitting the bag while it’s fresh and clean will keep your sheets tidy.

– Get enough sleep.

You can fall asleep naked but if you don’t sleep enough hours, you are still at risk of developing health problems from lack of sleep.

You can start sleeping with fewer layers, or switch from tight underwear to looser, looser underwear. Most importantly, you feel comfortable, so you can get a better sleep.
