He stated: “The list of people I’ve hurt is long and includes Chris, his family, many of my dear friends and loved ones, and all the home attendees and fans… You betrayed the trust of the Academy, and deprived the other nominees and winners of their opportunity to celebrate their exceptional work.”

Earlier, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that it had begun taking disciplinary action once morest Smith, and stated in a statement, “Smith was asked to leave the concert following the incident, but he refused,” and described Smith’s actions as a “traumatic incident in violation of standards of conduct.”

Will Smith had assaulted Rock during the latter’s presentation of the party because of a joke he told (Rock) regarding the appearance of the wife of the American actor Smith (Jada Smith), with a shaved head, which angered Smith, who left his seat to slap him in the face, then returned to his seat and began to curse the presenter Rock and asking him to shut his mouth so that he does not pronounce his wife’s name.

Jayda Smith suffers from alopecia, which causes her hair to not grow, forcing her to appear shaved.
