Former Al-Ahly and national team player Ahmed Belal denounced the advice given by Pyramids goalkeeper Sherif Ekramy to veteran players regarding media statements.

Bilal wrote on his Facebook account today, Tuesday, without mentioning Sherif Ekramy’s name, but his followers linked the name to his post: “The philosopher captain who distributes advice to veteran players. Thank you for your valuable advice, and we will definitely act on it. We also advised you 20 years ago that you are practicing a profession that is not yours, as attested by Arabs and foreigners, and until now you have not taken our advice.”

Bilal concluded his post by saying: “I am happy and pleased that you have found a profession that you can excel at, which is theorizing about others. Our experience, history in the stadiums, and capabilities allow us to praise, criticize, and analyze, and your experience and capabilities have become such that you say Ramadan Kareem.”

Sherif Ekramy wrote on his account on the X platform yesterday, Monday, coinciding with statements by Ahmed Bilal that sparked controversy regarding the African Super Cup match: “Advice to the veteran players of Al-Ahly and Zamalek, your sarcastic statements and mockery of the competitor will not increase your stardom. It may raise your name in the programs and make social media happy, but in reality this is just a reflection of your superficial mentality and empty mind. What may seem to you as applause on social media is in reality met with looks of contempt from many outside it.”

Ekramy concluded his post by saying: “Sports, at its core, are based on fair competition on the field and mutual respect off it. I know that life after retirement and staying away from the spotlight is painful, but please, if you want to return to work or for people to remember you, try to find a more respectful way. People like you are supposed to be the elite of sports. A role model for the fans, not the other way around.”

Yesterday evening, Ahmed Bilal denied what was attributed to him regarding insulting Zamalek Club before facing Al-Ahly in the African Super Cup.

Bilal said, in statements to On Time Sports channel, on Monday evening, that he did not underestimate Zamalek Club: “It is a big fortress, its value is great, it has a history and a large fan base, and I appreciate its fans.”

The former Al-Ahly player pointed out that sometimes statements are shortened and reach the fans in an inappropriate manner, noting that he was talking about the Zamalek team’s performance in the last two matches.

The retired player concluded his statements by drawing attention to the fact that he was talking about the possibility of Zamalek performing well against Al-Ahly in the Super Cup.

Bilal said on Al-Nahar channel: “I believe that the African Super Cup match will end before it starts in favor of Al-Ahly, in light of Zamalek’s very modest level.”

He added: “At Zamalek’s current level, I believe they will not even hit the crossbar in the match. If this is the level they will play the match at, they do not need to travel to Saudi Arabia so as not to lose by a large score, and the Reds’ winning percentage is 90%.”

Zamalek is scheduled to meet Al-Ahly at 9 pm next Friday at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in the Saudi capital in the African Super Cup.
