The exchange rate of the dollar once morest the pound rose today, Tuesday, at Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank by two piasters at the beginning of trading, compared to its level at the end of trading yesterday, while the price stabilized in 9 other banks, following rising to its highest level ever.
According to the Central Bank’s data, yesterday, Monday, the average price of the dollar in banks recorded 19.46 pounds for purchase, and 19.54 pounds for sale, reaching its highest level in history once morest the pound.
This came in the first move in the price of the dollar once morest the pound following the Central Bank of Egypt’s decision last Thursday to raise the mandatory cash reserve ratio of deposits on banks to 18% instead of 14%.
This decision was accompanied by the Central Bank fixing interest rates for the third time in a row during the Monetary Policy Committee’s meeting at 11.25% for deposits and 12.25% for lending.
