The people of Győr who thought that it would be enough to go to Mezőkövesd, the Nyíregyháza Spartacus–ETO FC Győr champion after lunch, were very wrong. The comfort of Győr is understandable under normal conditions, but despite the fact that a magnificent highway connects the two settlements 250 kilometers apart, the road conditions – accidents, renovations – were an obstacle, so those who didn’t switch in time missed the first minutes of the clash between the two newcomers. The leaders of the ETO could count on traffic jams, so the team and lunch in Zzórifürdő started on Sunday morning, and after the short afternoon siesta, the players arrived at the city stadium. As we reported, the handover of the stadium in Nyíregyháza is still delayed, so the team is forced to play its home matches in a sublet. Up until now, the club rented a field in Balmazújváros, now they pay for the use of the facility in Mezőkövesd, which meets the NB I requirements, not a little. The distance between the two settlements is only one hundred and ten kilometers, so hundreds of people accompanied the team that was playing football again after nine years.
The match started as an exciting meeting, in the 29th minute the people of Nyírsé could have been happy, and then the stands exploded after Márk Kovácsréti’s goal, which apparently took the visitors by storm (as described in the referee’s evaluation: in the eerily similar situation, during Marc Cucurella’s handling, Europe – championship, in the Spain-Germany quarter-final, the VAR and the referee Anthony Taylor did not award a penalty, so there is a suspicion that the video referee’s rules valid for the whole world are not very uniform…). Nyíregyháza played football faster and operated with shots and deep passes, while the players from Győr relied more on their technical skills, but the “home” momentum swept away the guests, who were playing a bit too much. Szpari had more possession of the ball, but not in their own half, but in the attacking third, what’s more, attacking and winning the ball worked well in the first half, especially after scoring the leading goal. In the minutes of extra time, this ETO also became somewhat more dangerous, but after Nenad Lukics’ shot, the ball missed the goal by centimeters.
