Indian Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi emphasized that it is important to prevent tensions from escalating in the Middle East region amid the ongoing attacks by Israel in Lebanon. Modi had a telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“There is no place for terrorism in our world. It is imperative to prevent regional escalation and ensure the safe release of all hostages,” PM Modi wrote on the X platform on Monday (30/9) after he spoke with Netanyahu.
Modi added that India is committed to supporting efforts to restore peace and stability. Modi’s talks with Netanyahu came amid Israeli air strikes targeting southern and eastern Lebanon.

Since September 23, Israel has launched massive air strikes against what it says are Hezbollah targets in Lebanon. The series of attacks killed more than 960 people and injured more than 2,770 others, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry.
Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah along with several Hezbollah commanders lost their lives in an Israeli air attack on the capital Beirut on Friday (28/9).
Hezbollah and Israel have been involved in a cross-border war since Israel began attacking Gaza in October 2023, after the Palestinian struggle group, Hamas, invaded Israel.
Israel’s attack on Gaza killed nearly 41,600 people, most of whom were women and children.
The international community has warned that an Israeli attack on Lebanon could escalate the Gaza conflict into a wider regional war. (Ant/Z-2)
