The PSG video dedicated to the launch of its 2023-2024 subscription campaign is no longer available on YouTube, a few hours following a very critical message from Kylian Mbappé on the use of his image.
“Video not available. This video is private”. This is the message now displayed by YouTube at the address of the Paris Saint-Germain video which was devoted to the launch of the club’s subscription campaign, but which was especially criticized by Kylian Mbappé on Instagram. The clip, which lasted just over a minute, is no longer available. At the time of writing, PSG has not commented on the controversy or the withdrawal of the video.
In his message published in story, the French vice-world champion declared that he did not “agree” with the use of his image for this video. “PSG is a big club and a big family but it is certainly not Kylian Saint-Germain,” wrote the Parisian star following seeing the promotional campaign where he is featured (and while Lionel Messi and Neymar in are absent).
The only one to speak in this video
“At no time was I informed of the content of the interview with my interlocutor,” he added, and “it looked like a basic interview during a club marketing day”. The French striker disputes that he was never told that this interview would be used for this purpose, knowing that other players were also interviewed, his entourage told AFP. “This is why I fight for individual image rights,” the player also said in his communication.
Sitting in the stands of the Parc des Princes, Kylian Mbappé was the only one to speak in the promotional film for the renewal campaign for the 2023-2024 season. The promising Parisian “Titis” Warren Zaire-Emery, Ismaël Gharbi and Ilyes Housni as well as the Portuguese international Nuno Mendes appear in the clip, as well as the gardener of the stadium.
Filmed in the stands of the Parc des Princes, Kylian Mbappé evokes the supporters. “The 12th man is what brings us additional strength to fight our battles,” said Mbappé in particular. “Being Parisian means being proud of what you are, of what you represent (…) and never forget where you come from”.
