About 100 Moroccan citizens accused a travel agency in the city of Casablanca of defrauding them, following violating its obligations with them regarding performing Umrah rituals during the current month of Ramadan.
They explained in press statements that they were scheduled to leave Morocco for Saudi Arabia at the beginning of March, but they were shocked more than once by postponing their travel without providing convincing justifications.
Those affected confirmed that they have been visiting the headquarters of the concerned agency for days to find out the reasons for the long delay in the process of transferring them to perform Umrah, but to no avail.
Faced with this situation, those concerned accused the travel agency of defrauding them, calling on the authorities to intervene to find a solution to their situation and oblige the travel agency to fulfill its obligations towards them.
This incident comes days following the Moroccan Association for Human Rights, the Manara Marrakech branch, revealed that it had received complaints stating that regarding 175 people wishing to perform Umrah were defrauded by a travel agency located in the Red City.
The association stated, quoting the testimonies of many victims, that they paid the cost of travel and accommodation directly to the concerned agency, either in return for a receipt or through a bank transfer, which amounts ranged between 20 and 30 thousand dirhams.
The same source added that a number of the victims repeatedly visited the agency’s headquarters, where they were promised that they would be transported through payments to Marrakech Menara Airport to travel to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which was not done.
In the face of promises of procrastination and procrastination, those wishing to perform Umrah discovered that they were victims of fraud and fraud, which made them knock on the door of the judiciary for their justice.
