After knife attack in Linz: Victim now in the normal ward

The 21-year-old from Linz is said to have stabbed the Slovakian (34) with a 20 centimeter long knife in the early hours of the morning following an argument. After the alleged perpetrator fled the crime scene near Schiller Park, he was arrested by the police.

The 34-year-old victim is out of danger, said the Kepler University Hospital. The Slovakian has now been transferred to the normal ward.

Investigations are ongoing

The alleged perpetrator has been in prison since Wednesday evening. In the meantime, pre-trial detention has also been requested, as public prosecutor Ulrike Breiteneder announced when asked by the OÖN. It is not yet clear when the 21-year-old will be questioned by the judge. The man from Linz has so far refused to make a statement to the police.

According to the police, no more precise information regarding the background to the crime was available on Thursday. The State Criminal Police Office has now started investigations.
