The parliamentary group of the Justice and Development Party called on the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Khaled Ait Taleb, to withdraw the new price at which a breast cancer drug is sold, following it exceeded the barrier of 2,000 dirhams.
In a written question addressed to the Minister Guardian of the Health Sector, the group revealed that the price of the drug “DOCETAXEL KABI 80 mg/4 ml” recently increased by 973 dirhams, in accordance with the Ministry’s decision No. 722.24, issued in Official Gazette No. 7289 dated April 8, 2024, requiring a change in It complements Resolution No. 787.14, reviewing the public selling prices of original, generic, identical and biosimilar medicines marketed in Morocco.
The group stated in its question, signed by the parliamentary representative for the Souss-Massa region, Naima Al-Fathawi, that the price of this drug, which is used to treat breast cancer, has increased its selling price to the public from 1,518 dirhams to 2,491 dirhams, and its price for hospitals has increased from 1,254 dirhams to 2,152 dirhams.
The parliamentary representative reminded the Ministry of the suffering suffered by women with cancer and their families in order to obtain medicine and treatment and the exorbitant amounts required to provide treatment.
In the face of this situation, a member of the Justice and Development parliamentary group called on the government to reveal the reasons for the high price of breast cancer medicine, wondering what measures the Ministry of Health will take to reduce its price in order to alleviate the suffering of cancer patients.
