Muhammad Yusuf made Pakistan famous by winning the World Snooker Championship in 1994 and not only this, he also holds the honor of winning the Senior Snooker World Championship in addition to the Asian Snooker Championship.
Muhammad Yusuf is currently teaching snooker at Karachi’s ‘One Ten Communication’ club, where he shared many things from his heart in an interview given to Independent Urdu.
He told Independent Urdu that 1994 was the best time of his life, when he conquered snooker experts from more than 40 countries at the Hara World Championship. This victory was a great success for him, which he could not forget till today.
Yusuf said: ‘I am proud to have won the world title for Pakistan.’

He said that he never took coaching from anyone. He has been interested in sports since his childhood, which is why he fell in love with snooker and became a snooker expert in no time.
According to Muhammad Yusuf: ‘After I won, people realized that snooker is also a part of sports.’ At the same time, he said that ‘for me, the World Cup played in 1994 was everything.’
However, Muhammad Yusuf is deeply saddened that snooker talent is not getting proper recognition across the country.
He said that two-time Asian number three, World Champion and 2006 Senior Snooker Championship are to his credit. He was a victim of abuses by the snooker federation many times but never compromised on the principles and did not seek any reward.
“Unfortunately, in our country, snooker does not get the recognition and attention that other sports, like cricket and squash, have. This was the reason that at one time even Aya had to face unemployment and hardship. I was so heartbroken that I gave away all my medals and awards to junkies for free. On the other hand, not having a good relationship with the Snooker Federation is also a great misfortune of this game.
Muhammad Yusuf is not only the best snooker player, but also an incomparable singer. He has written innumerable ghazals and innumerable songs but unfortunately he could not get a platform even in this talent but his morale never weakened.

Muhammad Yusuf said: ‘I tried to get membership in the Arts Council, I wanted to meet President Ahmed Shah several times but I returned empty handed. I just want people to listen to me, my ghazals, my songs and remember me after my death that Muhammad Yusuf also used to sing songs.’
He said that he went to Bombay, India for the tournament in 2006, there he met the chief guest Amitabh Bachchan, where he also played his composed songs for him, on which Amitabh Bachchan also offered him but According to Muhammad Yusuf: ‘I retreated thinking that when the government of Pakistan will find out why I gave my songs to India? If I had given my songs, maybe I would have started a series from there.’
According to Muhammad Yusuf, he has only one desire to always raise the name of the country. He is still ready to take on the responsibility of bringing out new talent for the country by training young players, but he says that for this, the government will have to fully support the sport.
