The duties of the President of the French Football Federation, Noel Le Graet, have been suspended by the extraordinary executive body of the federation, and his deputy, Philippe Diallo, will temporarily assume the task, according to what a member of the body revealed, Wednesday, to Agence France-Presse.
This came following Le Graet, who has chaired the federation since 2011, made controversial statements regarding former French soccer star Zinedine Zidane, in addition to testimonies regarding supposed sexual behavior.
According to the same source, the duties of the Federation’s Director General, Florence Ardouane, have been suspended.
Le Graet had indirectly mocked the legend Zinedine Zidane regarding his approach to coaching the French national team.
He said in statements to Radio “Monte Carlo”, on Sunday, regarding Zidane’s approach to training the French national team earlier, before renewing Deschamps until 2026: “I have never met him, and we have never thought of separating from Didier Deschamps.”
Following Le Graet’s remarks, French national team striker Kylian Mbappe defended Zinedine Zidane and wrote on Twitter: “Zidane is France… We must not underestimate respect for a legend like this!”
