After he was stabbed… Here are the updates on Salman Rushdie’s health condition

After he was stabbed in New York by a young American of Lebanese origin during a conference in New York State and was taken to hospital on Friday, the British novelist’s agent, Salman Rushdie, revealed that doctors removed his respirator and that his condition was improving.

“They removed his ventilator and the road to recovery has begun… It will be long, the injuries are serious, but his condition is going in the right direction,” Andrew Wiley wrote in an email to Archyde.com.

Wiley did not provide further details regarding Rushdie’s health in his email on Sunday.

And Rushdie’s agent had revealed in previous statements regarding the British novelist’s case that doctors put him on a ventilator following hours of surgery, and that he was not able to speak until Friday evening, adding that he was likely to lose one of his eyes and that the nerves in his arm were damaged. He also suffered from liver injuries.

It is reported that the British novelist, Salman Rushdie, was attacked, on Friday, while he was presenting a lecture on freedom of creativity in front of hundreds of attendees at the Chautauqua Institute in New York.

At that time, a young man of Lebanese origins, Hadi Matar, rushed towards the podium and stabbed the writer, who had been given a reward by Iran since 1989, for whoever finishes him.

In addition, the lawyer for the 24-year-old accused filed a petition on his behalf during a court hearing.

Rushdi, who was born in India, 75, was seriously injured in the attack and is still being treated in a hospital.
