The Colombian Olympic Committee, through president Ciro Solano, paid tribute to Walter Vargas following the historic gold, at the XIX Pan American Games in Santiago 2023.
The cyclist Walter Vargas received, this Friday (April 19) and from the president of the Colombian Olympic Committee, the Specialized SWorks Shiv TT Disc bicycle.
Having just turned 32, the Antioquian was also a national, Bolivarian, South American, and Pan American champion on two occasions.
Likewise, he won silver in the Central American Games, highlighting that his most recent bicycle was a Giant Trinity Advanced 2017 and that it recently broke down.
Walter Vargas indicated that “I had my birthday three days ago, it is the best birthday gift they are going to give me.”

Precisely, the Colombian cyclist won gold in Santiago 2023 following the men’s individual time trial, on Maipo Island.

Walter will use his new tool in the next 2024 Pan American Road Cycling Championships that will take place in Brazil on May 20 and 26.
