After the arrest of a 42-year-old Turkish citizen in Hungary who is said to have shot a 34-year-old compatriot in Wiener Neustadt shortly following midnight on Sunday, the Szeged city court ordered the suspect’s simplified extradition to Austria on Thursday, the Hungarian news agency reported MTI.
A corresponding request was made in the European arrest warrant that was issued once morest the initially fugitive, explained Silke Pernsteiner, spokeswoman for the Wiener Neustadt public prosecutor’s office on Monday. Now a date must be agreed upon on which the accused will be handed over at the border so that the proceedings can be carried out in Austria. The 42-year-old is being investigated on suspicion of murder.
The man is accused of shooting the 34-year-old at around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday in the parking lot of a shopping center with a cinema on Wiener Neustädter Stadionstrasse. The victim was hit three times by a handgun. The suspect was arrested on the Hungarian-Serbian border and his arrest was ordered by the district court in Szeged on Tuesday.
