After Carinthia election: SPÖ and ÖVP before agreement on coalition

A final round with all negotiators is planned for lunch, following which Governor Peter Kaiser (SPÖ) and ÖVP boss Martin Gruber will appear in front of the press. You can follow the live stream at 2.30 p.m. on nachrichten.at.

It was expected that Kaiser and Gruber would then present the cornerstones of the planned collaboration. The red and black party committees, which have to approve the agreement, were summoned for 4 p.m.

It would already be the third joint coalition at the Carinthian state level in a row. The Greens were also there from 2013 to 2018. For Governor Kaiser it is regarding the third term. If everything goes smoothly, the government program should be presented and signed next week. At least in the case of the SPÖ, personnel decisions should not be made until next week. An swearing-in ceremony for the new state government, like that of the new state parliament, is planned for April 13th.
