The Federal Public Revenue Administration (AFIP) formalized this Wednesday the modification of the tax burden for purchases in foreign currency on credit and card expenses abroad, which will result in a price of the so-called “card dollar” of $ 1,280 , with a 60% surcharge on the official quote of $800.

The modification was implemented through general resolutions 5463/2023 and 5464/2023 published this Wednesday in the Official Gazette, with the particularity of being signed by the general director of Customs, Guillermo Michel, temporarily in charge of the collection agency until formalize the appointment of Florencia Misrahi.
In this way, the total tax burden on this type of operations was reduced from 155% to 60%, as compensation for the increase in the price of the official dollar.
Earnings and purchases in foreign currency
RG 5463 determined that the income tax collection rate applicable to operations in foreign currency will be 30%.
For its part, RG 5464 established a PAIS tax rate of 28.5% or 16.625% depending on the type of operation.
The measures had been anticipated yesterday in the announcement made by the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo.
