After being fired from Grupo América, Marcela Pagano denounced this Monday that she was pressured and censored.

The journalist, who until last Friday served as the host of a cycle on A 24, revealed this situation through an extensive text posted on her network profiles.

“After enduring seven months of pressure, I finally understood that it was impossible to do journalism with the people who run that channel today,” began Pagano, who immediately mentioned Daniel Vila, director of the channel, and Rolando Graña, its current journalistic manager.

“I never had a single problem with a partner or authority,” the communicator continued, following pointing out that she has a 17-year career in different media.

“To justify the impossible in an election year, they want to dirty my image when I am an honest and professional worker who lives on her salary,” she reinforced before recalling that other former colleagues went through a similar situation.

“I am aware that before this happened to me, important figures in journalism also suffered this censorship,” he said.

The custom of silencing, according to Marcela Pagano

At this point, Marcela Pagano added that there are “voices that are not on the American screen due to their ways of practicing journalism” and warned that in Grupo América it is becoming customary “to fire people who hinder interests and make them uncomfortable with their thoughts and opinions”.

“The last one was Viviana Canosa, whose real reason for leaving the channel was hidden from me when I was coerced by an authority invoking a channel lawyer (who had been my partner) to read a press release that the channel’s management wrote regarding the public escraches ”, he recalled.

In another order, Marcela Pagano assured that her departure is also related to a gender issue: “There is a hostile and ‘overwhelming’ recurrence [sic] once morest the women on that screen, to which several of my former and current colleagues can attest.

Towards the end of her statement, the journalist denounced “explicit prohibitions on inviting” relatives of Mauricio Macri and Patricia Bullrich, as well as “non-aligned” K economists.

And he revealed that his dismissal coincided with an improvement in the audience measurement of his program, in which he poured economic analyzes of this volatile and inflationary present. “Firing following two years and two months of driving in full swing of the dollar and with the future in suspense of the current administration is significant,” he reflected.

And although he clarified that he never received a direct call from anyone from the Ministry of Economy to limit his “gaze as a journalist”, he felt that freedom of expression was “curtailed”.

“I want to say that my freedom to ask questions has been curtailed in the last month. I received explicit prohibitions from inviting anyone linked to Mauricio Macri, Patricia Bullrich and Kirchnerist economists not aligned with a certain wing of the Frente de Todos policy, such as Julia Strada or Sergio Chouza, ”he specified.

“In the last few weeks they prohibited me from putting on the plates and videograph that the dollar had risen, I might only tell on the air when it went down. I rebelled once morest this decision, of which I was even notified while on the air while doing an economic column, ”she added.

In any case, Pagano maintained that it was a note to Javier Milei, presidential candidate for La Libertad Avanza, that triggered his dismissal.
