On Monday evening, one of the most important events in the fashion calendar, the iconic Met Gala, took place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. As every year, the event was attended by many famous figures from the world of film and music, as well as global catwalk stars. Among the invited guests was Linda Evangelista, who had not been seen there for a long time. The famous model last appeared at the gala in 2015 – just before a disastrous body shaping procedure that left her body “deformed and disfigured”.
This year’s edition of the Met Gala took place on May 6 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. During the event inaugurating the “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” exhibition, funds were collected for the Costume Institute of the prestigious institution. The participants climbed the famous stairs of the museum dressed in outfits consistent with the main theme of the event – “The Garden of Time”. Most of the invited guests appeared that evening in impressive styles, in which floral motifs played the main role.
We might admire a real galaxy of stars on the red carpet. They posed for photojournalists, among others: Zendaya, Michelle Williams, Barry Keoghan, Kieran Culkin, Camila Cabello, Lizzo, Jerry Seinfeld, Billie Eilish, Gigi Hadid and Jonathan Bailey. Linda Evangelista, who had not been seen there for a long time, also came to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and she last appeared at the Met Gala in 2015. She was wearing a red Moschino dress decorated with a large bow.
This time, one of the most famous top models of the 90s chose an elegant, cream-white, draped dress made of organic silk by Catherine Holstein. The look was complemented by long, translucent white gloves and elegant, hanging earrings with tourmalines, designed by Ana Khouri. “The only thing I really wanted was to get out of the blackness and that’s what we did. I feel very good in this outfit and I’m really happy,” the Canadian revealed while talking to Vogue magazine on the red carpet.
Evangelista’s almost decade-long absence from the Met Gala is related to the nightmare the catwalk star has experienced in recent years. The model disappeared from show business following a seemingly simple and safe beauty treatment permanently disfigured her body. We are talking regarding cryolipolysis, which aims to reduce fat tissue by freezing it. In Evangelista’s case, it backfired. The model belonged to the 1%. cases in which a rare complication was detected in which fat cells, instead of shrinking and dying, were drastically enlarged due to freezing.
Two years ago, Evangelista revealed that following seven CoolSculpting sessions, which she attended from August 2015 to February 2016, her body was “deformed and brutally disfigured.” “I don’t recognize myself anymore – not just physically. The real Linda that I was is gone. But I’m tired of hiding. I can’t live in this constant pain and shame anymore. I hope I can help other people who find themselves in the same situation. That’s my goal,” she admitted in a famous interview for People magazine. The model decided to sue the company responsible for the sale and licensing of devices used in cryolipolysis procedures, demanding USD 50 million in compensation. In July 2022, the parties reached a settlement. (PAP Life)
