After Alien, Predator is back! The first details of the new film with Elle Fanning have been revealed

After the theatrical release of Alien: Romulusthere’s some great news about another project in the popular sci-fi horror franchise. Earlier this year, a new standalone film was announced Predator titled Badlands, con Elle Fanning protagonist, and now the details have leaked first details on the online plot.

In June, news broke that 20th Century Studios and the director Dan Trachtenberg were working on a new film in the saga, which would have had Elle Fanning as the protagonist and would have been totally detached from Prey, the previous chapter on which the filmmaker worked. AvPGalaxy.net (via ComicBookMovie) revealed that the project is currently in production in New Zealand with the provisional title Backpack and made known the casting callwith an intriguing logline and details on the two main characters: «An innovative film in which one of the two main storylines explores the complex bond between two very different sisterswhose family bonds are tested as they follow divergent paths and missions».

It seems that the protagonists will be two twin sisterswhich means Elle Fanning could play a double role.

«The first, Thiaidentifies as female or non-binary, of undefined ethnicity, between 20 and 40 years old. Thia has spent most of her life in a lab and is now embarking on her first big adventure in the world. She is incredibly intelligent, witty, enthusiastic and unflappable. He has an innate contempt for dangernot because she is fearless, but simply because she is naive. Strong comic skills are required. The other sister, Tessahas a militant intensity when it comes to achieving her family’s goals and missions. She won’t let anything stand in her way, not even her twin sister.».

As for Prey, which will be released in 2022 directly on Disney+, it is planned a direct sequel to the 2022 filmalthough details are still scarce: it seems that the plan is to return to the original setting of the film, with Amber Middle Dogs which should resume its role as Naru.

Regarding this future project, Dan Trachtenberg explained: «Often someone will do something special and the sequel is just… and then the next part, and then it’s like, ‘Oh, well, it’s just a sequel to that special thing.’ It’s not the same thing. So in thinking about sequels, the main conversation has always been and will always be: What special can we do that hasn’t been done yet? Not just for the Predator franchise, but for this genre in particular. Can we still do something great?».

Prey, which we told you about in our review, tells the story of Narua highly skilled young warrior who has grown up in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters of the Great Plains. When danger threatens her camp, Naru sets out to protect her people. The prey she pursues turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technologically advanced arsenal, leading to a fierce and terrifying clash between the two.

The film stars Amber Middle Dogs, Dakota Beavers, Stormee Kipp, Michelle Thrush, Julian Black Antelope e Data DiLiegro as the Predator. Directed by Dan Trachtenberg, it is written by Patrick Aison and produced by John Davis, Jhane Myers and Marty Ewing, while Lawrence Gordon, Ben Rosenblatt, James E. Thomas, John C. Thomas and Marc Toberoff are the executive producers.
