The Moroccan writer and architect Alaa Halifi has just published his book “Eloge de la folie”, winner of the last edition of the international prize “Al-Rafidain First book Awards”. Published by “Al Rafidain & Daraj” editions in Lebanon, the power of this 280-page book “lies in its strong ability to dive deep into the worlds of Casablanca”, reads an introductory sheet of the book. Drawing an intimate portrait of the city of Casablanca, “Eloge de la folie” reconstructs the puzzle of an imaginary and concrete city, through the perspective of multiple characters, fictitious and real, underground lives, fallen angels, marginalized, immigrants, or even an alien visiting the city from deep space, explains the note, arguing that the writer brings to life a fantastical Casablanca, full of madness and chaos.
