The President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric, arrived in Concepción this Tuesday to visit the communities affected by the recent frontal system. In the area he met with ministers and various regional and institutional authorities.

After midday, he went to Curanilahue, one of the communities hardest hit by the storm. There he referred to the Recovery Bonds, promised by the Government for the affected families, highlighting that more than 1,774 economic aids have been delivered in the Biobío Region, in addition to around 250 in the regions of La Araucanía and Ñuble.

“Our government is deployed in the different communes to assess the damage as quickly as possible,” said the President. “You cannot provide a solution if there is no accurate diagnosis of what happened.”

During his visit to Curanilahue, the President thanked the municipalities for their efforts in the face of the emergency. “Thank you very much, Mayor, to you and your entire team for the work carried out in recent days, we know that it has been tremendously intense,” he added.

He also highlighted the support of the Armed Forces and Carabineros, for their role in the area in the midst of the frontal system. “I was proud to see a team and a state on the ground that, in the face of a catastrophe, reacts quickly,” said President Boric.

Following the flooding caused by the overflow of the Curanilahue, Rana and Estero Plegaria rivers, the city’s commercial center was affected, where entrepreneurs saw their businesses affected.

In this regard, the President announced that he has already asked the Minister of Economy, Nicolás Grau, to carry out a survey that will allow “to provide a subsidy of up to $10 million so that small entrepreneurs can recover what they have lost and move forward,” he added.
