The newspaper explained that “with the private sector (Illuma Company) beginning to take over the management of the Syrian Arab Airlines, the employees of the organization began to breathe a sigh of relief with increases of at least 100% in salaries that began to be paid to ordinary employees, while pilots, flight attendants and technical engineers enjoyed a noticeable increase in income that began to approach the internationally recognized level.”
She added that “the new company, after taking over the management about twenty days ago, began to review first the salary and wage scale in effect, which was the subject of complaints from several categories of employees, especially pilots, flight attendants (guests), and technical engineers, especially after a large number of them fled to work in Arab and foreign companies as a result of their low income in their parent company.”
She stated that “the salary and compensation of the pilot commander can reach the equivalent of $9,000 (paid in Syrian pounds) depending on his seniority in the organization, while the co-pilot starts work with a salary of $3,500.”
The private company directly increased the salaries of its 3,500 workers by 100%, and provided many of them with direct subsidies at the beginning of the school season. All of this is within the framework of a strategy adopted by “Illuma” based on increasing the level of salaries, wages and compensations, and improving the quality of services with the aim of reaching a leading position in the world of aviation. All of this is within the framework of the goals set by “Illuma” before the contracting process with the Syrian Arab Airlines and which it seeks to achieve.
It is noteworthy that Iloma has operated a second Airbus 320 aircraft, and has begun increasing its flights and adding new routes that were suspended, with a third and fourth aircraft to be introduced successively over the next few months.
