After a fatal traffic accident: charges against former ÖFB national team player

The 35-year-old is accused of having an alcohol content of 0.78 per mille in connection with fatigue. The accident happened on November 25 of the previous year in the early hours of the morning. According to the police, the former top athlete should have turned right onto the banquet with her car on the B19 shortly before 5.30 a.m. and then swerved to the left. She crashed into the car of a 37-year-old. The Lower Austrian died at the scene of the accident. The driver was transported to Tulln University Hospital with injuries.

The criminal complaint was recently filed, said the spokesman for the public prosecutor’s office. If convicted, he faces up to three years in prison. After the accident, the ÖFB sent a statement on behalf of Burger. “I can’t find words to express my regret regarding what happened today. All my thoughts are with the bereaved. What they are going through now is difficult to imagine and hard to bear,” the former top athlete was quoted as saying.
