The app struggled to play videos. The problem concerns several countries including France
TikTok experienced a 90-minute global outage this Thursday morning, particularly in France where some videos were no longer working. An “unable to play video” message was displayed at the top of the screen.
On the Downdetector website, which identifies the breakdowns of websites, many users alerted to the problems of connection of the social network. This was also the case in several countries, such as the United Kingdom or Poland.
On Twitter, many Internet users have noticed the same problem on their application.
As Tech&Co found, the stream was working haphazardly, with returns to normal, followed by new bugs.
By midday, the problem seemed finally resolved.
“Earlier today, some members of our community experienced temporary issues accessing video content. This issue has been resolved and TikTok is now fully operational,” TikTok told Tech&Co.
The Chinese social network is currently at the heart of the cyclone: accused of spying on behalf of the Chinese state, the application might be banned in the United States. In France, a Senate inquiry commission is also looking into its role in France.
