After 11 years of loyal service, Badr Ikken leaves IRESEN and begins an exciting adventure in the private sector.

“What has a beginning has an end, but every end is the beginning of a new beginning”. It is with this quote borrowed from Serge Zeller that Badr Ikken, the Director General of the Institute for Research in Solar Energy and New Energies (IRESEN) announced, to his friends and relatives, on the professional social network LinkedIn, his resignation. of this post. Officially, he had filed this, Friday, April 29, 2022, at the headquarters of IRESEN, during the 15th meeting of the Board of Directors of the Institute, made famous and notorious thanks to his personal involvement, his infallible commitment, his unparalleled dynamics, his unshakable loyalty, his undisputed genius and his unrivaled sense of interpersonal skills.

Knowing the man and the head of an Institute like IRESEN who placed the Kingdom in the orbit of advanced countries in terms of applied research in clean technologies and renewable energy, cannot leave you indifferent. Impressed, one inevitably becomes. But we are more attached to his incomparable desire to get things done and to always claim the best. It is of this ilk of managers, forgiveness of leaders, that integrity, probity and exemplary behavior attract like a magnet.

Knowing him truly leads one to believe that within the IRESEN where he gave himself, he no longer has anything to offer. Not that he is no longer capable of it, but because the climate in which he has always excelled must have changed. Since the start of the pandemic, he has acted like the staunch patriot that he is. He worked with his team to develop, to perfection, a respirator at a time when the resuscitation services of our hospitals were blatantly lacking. Unfortunately, this respirator will not have a future. Vile politico-politician calculations would prevent its coming out into the open. It hurt him but not so much to let go. Except that today, he had to take this turn and turn the page.

After eleven years at the head of IRESEN, Badr Ikken joined GI2, an engineering consulting company specializing in renewable energies, sustainable development, decarbonization and energy efficiency, which he co-created with Nasser Bouazza and Zakaria Naimi. In his place, IRESEN’s board of directors has appointed Samir Rachidi, R&D Director in charge of Solar Thermal and Power-to-X, as interim Managing Director.

But it is a great Badr whose departure we regret and to whom we wish a bright and better future. “It is with great sadness and hope that I wish to announce my departure from IRESEN. I have been honored to serve my country, under the foresight of His Majesty the King, may God assist him and to ensure this fine mission for the past ten years by contributing to the development of applied research in the field of clean technologies in the Morocco. I am looking to a new professional adventure with peace of mind, because I know that you will continue to meet the challenges and make these two institutions (IRESEN and Green Energy Park) flagships on a continental scale”, he said. announced on LinkedIn as a ”Goodbye” which will certainly not last long.
