Veterinarians with independent status from the Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain (Afsca) will benefit from a salary increase from April 1, Federal Minister of Agriculture David Clarinval said in a press release on Saturday. . The proposal was approved Friday in the Council of Ministers.
In December, a memorandum of understanding was signed to reform the Afsca inspection system and increase the fees of official inspectors and veterinarians working for the federal agency. This revaluation was set at an increase of 6.1% from next April and 1.9% from January 2023.
In addition, these “mission officers” “will also benefit from better working conditions”, underlines the minister’s office.
Concerning the controls, their frequency will be in particular “adapted to the risks”. This measure, like the organization of the expertise and other tasks of inspectors and veterinarians, is currently the subject of a royal decree in preparation.
The objective of the new protocol is to make the inspection function more attractive.
