The India-Pakistan match is one of the biggest battles in world cricket. There is no other match that fans, stars and media alike celebrate.

You can see fierce fights and fights in India Pakistan matches. There are many people who see this competition as more than a competition.

With another India-Pakistan clash coming up on the 28th of that month following a long time, former Indian opener Virender Sehwag is reminiscing regarding old India-Pakistan matches.

Here, Sehwag talks regarding the famous Sachin-Akhtar fight in the 2003 World Cup. Sachin scored 18 runs in the very first over that Akhtar came to bowl that day. He also managed to score 98 runs in the match.

Sehwag says that Shahid Afridi, who was a young player at that time, abused Sachin a lot following beating Akhtar. But Sehwag said that he remained focused on the match without any hesitation.

Sehwag came to the crease to stand as runner-up for Tendulkar who suffered leg pain during the match.

“It was an important match. India wanted someone like Sachin to stay at the crease. Meanwhile, Pakistan player Shahid Afridi taunted him constantly but he remained focused and remained at the crease. Later he felt pain and called me as his runner.

Sachin knew that if I came, I would run like him and was sure there would be no misunderstandings. So, he called me and I got to see his greatest World Cup innings,’ Sehwag said.

Before the match, Akhtar came out challenging Sachin to be fired. But Sachin answered it in style.

98 runs off 75 balls and Akhtar’s 18 runs in the first over was a class answer to that. Sachin’s six over the square is still remembered by fans.
