Present at the opening of the CHEDS 10th anniversary symposium, the president of the Pan-African Institute of Strategies, Cheikh Tidiane Gadio indicated that the development paradigm of Africa is wrong and that he not only raised these limits but also show these total failures, because for 60 years of independence no country has not achieved sovereignty.

“Collective security in West Africa: between geopolitical issues and the desire for sovereignty”, it is under this theme that the former Minister of Foreign Affairs and President of the Pan-African Institute of Strategies, Cheikh Tidiane Gadio, will speak. The latter decorates it with his intervention on sovereignty in West Africa which he considers to be “granted during independence and secondly, it was framed by the former colonial powers and thirdly we played this game for us oppose between Africans and not to be together”.

And to support these words, the president of the Pan-African Institute of Strategies, Cheikh Tidiane Gadio gives the example of the situation in Burkina Faso, which he is sorry for the fact that it is a disaster for West Africa and that doesn’t seem to thrill anyone. “Every day we massacre 30 Burkinabais or even 50 and it doesn’t seem to hurt anyone, everyone takes note and life goes on.

And today we are told in 3 years of jihadist attacks there have been 10,000 deaths in Burkina Faso. When there are 20 deaths in Paris, everyone goes to Paris to walk, our heads of state go there to offer condolences, but for Burkina nobody does anything, what are our heads of state waiting for? to go to Burkina, what our national armies are waiting for to have a regional approach to the crisis and go to bring their assistance to Burkina. Where are revolutionary Pan-Africanist students, where are these intellectuals, these politicians who talk to us all the time regarding change, the anti-imperialist struggle, etc. what are they going to do for Burkina, it’s total silence, that’s what I came to discuss and I think, “said Cheikh Tidiane Gadio, indicating his approach during the debate saying, “I am going to attack very strongly on the question of sovereignty because frankly Africa has fallen into the trap of sovereignty since Independence, since 1960 we have not had sovereignty in Africa”

He believes that we need to change the paradigm. According to Cheikh Tidiane Gadio, the development paradigm of Africa is wrong because it not only raises these limits but also shows these total failures. “60 years of independence 0 emerging country. No African country has settled the fundamentals of development and yet our leaders persist in wanting to use the same paradigm and thinking that by dint of repeating the same mistake, one day it will become the truth, it is not true . We are at an impasse.

From this point of view, I think that this paradigm must be settled first. Do you imagine that the AU to date for 10 years of terrorist attack once morest Africa has not held a summit on terrorism, there are small meetings here and there but a summit of leaders state never »
