After participating in the Four Nations tournament, where they suffered two defeats, Vivaldo Eduardo’s men hold their first training session on the competition stage today
The National Senior Women’s Handball Team is already in town in the Norwegian city of Stavanger, where it will play the first phase of the World Cup, in group D, alongside France, Slovenia and Iceland.
The World Championship, co-organized by Norway, Denmark and Sweden, will take place from the 29th of this month to the 17th of December. The assistant coach of the Angolan team, Nelson Catito, told the press that the group is prepared for the start of the competition, as the preparation in Hungary was very fruitful.
“In the Four Nations tournament we had two defeats with Poland, 30-33, and Norway, 32-24, teams that aim to win the World Cup. Still, we managed to learn a good lesson from what the team’s evolution is,” he highlighted. At the event, Angola has the ambition to improve the 25th place obtained in its last appearance in Spain in 2021. The group is made up of 17 players, four of which are debutants.
Teresa Almeida “Bá”, Aminata Kanka, Marta Alberto, Liliane Mário, Juliana Machado, Marília Quizelete, Isabel Guialo, Bernardeth Belo, Dolores do Rosário, Natália Bernardo, Márcia Manuel, Chelcia Gabriel and Helena Paulo are the players who are at orders from the technical team.
