African cities: how to take the turn of sustainable mobility?

Published on :

The African continent is experiencing the strongest urban growth in the world. According to OECD projections, they will welcome nearly 950 million new urban dwellers over the next 30 years.

The challenges in urban areas that are spreading more and more in cities that are already congested, are immense in terms of transport: making traffic more fluid, reducing travel times, increasing the supply of public transport, lowering costs, reducing noise and atmospheric pollution… how to improve urban mobility? While a large majority of African city dwellers are not motorized, how can the race for CO2-emitting cars be stopped and the transition to sustainable transport be accelerated?

Program recorded in Dakar as part of the Sustainable Mobility and Climate Week 2022, organized by the CODATU Association, the CETUD and the Association Climate Chance.
