Africa is in the spotlight in Paris, on the occasion of Africa Week of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco), which takes place from May 23 to 25 around the theme “Self-sufficiency, resilience and economic development in Africa”.

Placed under the high patronage of Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara, the activities and festivities of this edition highlight the rich heritage, cultural diversity and know-how of Africa in terms of agricultural innovation: exhibitions, conferences, screenings films, gastronomy…

Speaking on behalf of President Alassane Ouattara, the Ivorian Minister of Education, Mariatou Koné, expressed the wish that the exchanges which are carried out during the panels and conferences during this celebration, lead to recommendations and lasting solutions for the States. Africans.

For his part, Deputy Director General of UNESCO Xing Qu assured that Africa is at the heart of UNESCO’s action, which is why it has acted with its global education coalition in 100 countries. in Africa, to support educational continuity since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

It should be noted that Unesco’s African Week has been organized every year since 2003. It is part of the celebration of the anniversary of the Organization of African Unity (OAU), (later to become African Union (UA)), created on May 25, 1963 in Ethiopia.
