The name Irma Rihi attracted the attention of many Indonesian film lovers thanks to her ability to play the character Martha in the film Women From Rote Island. Irma Rihi, who graduated in Psychology from Kupang University, seems to be mature in acting, even though it turns out she has never had experience in acting in films.

During the Press Screening & Gala Premiere of Women From Rote Island on February 16 2024 at XXI Epicentrum, this woman who was born in 1997 revealed that she had doubts regarding being involved in this film. He is afraid that the information regarding casting on Rote Island is just one method of fraud. Irma Rihi also needed time to believe the offer. The reason is, if there is a film production in the East Nusa Tenggara area, usually the actors are brought from Jakarta.

However, following reading the scenario and getting encouragement from her friend, Irma Rihi decided to take part in this project because of the challenges presented by the dark character of Martha and the need for totality in her portrayal.

“Even though it is difficult, I believe that this is an opportunity to voice an important issue,” said Irma Rihi.

Even though she was acting in a feature film for the first time, Irma was able to give a stunning performance in the complex and challenging character of Martha. In the film Women From Rote Island, Irma Rihi plays Martha, the first child of Orpah (played by Linda Adoe). Martha is an Indonesian Migrant Worker (TKI) who returned to her hometown, Rote Island, in a state of depression following being a victim of sexual violence abroad. This film highlights the struggle of Martha and her mother to obtain justice in a system that often does not side with victims of violence.

Irma Rihi described her experience during the selection process as Martha as a challenge that required courage and readiness to carry the character with full emotion.

“This selection process is not easy, but I am confident that through this film, we can convey a very important message,” he said enthusiastically.

The film Women From Rote Island itself is scheduled to be shown in cinemas starting February 22 2024. The trailer for this film can be watched on the official YouTube channel and social media @starcahayasinema and @womenfromroteisland. (Z-7)
