Muscat: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology has announced a 45 percent increase in taxi fares at Muscat International Airport. The fares of taxis through two mobile applications which have been approved to operate at the airport have been reduced. The minimum fare will be 1.5 riyals. 250 baisa will be charged for each subsequent kilometer travel.
Earlier, the lowest rate was three riyals. 400 baisa was charged per km. According to the new rate, the average taxi fare from Muscat Airport to Ruwi will be 9.2 to 9.5 Riyals. Cloud World Trading’s ‘O Taxi and Uber Smart Cities Company’s Oman Taxi have been newly licensed.
