Marjorie Suárez organized a “potazo” in Alta Vista with family and friends this Friday, with the intention of raising funds for her sister diagnosed with cervical cancer.
The 23-year-old patient has already completed her chemotherapy treatment in Guárico state, but assures that there are no radiotherapy machines available to continue the process in the public sector in Bolívar, Guárico or Caracas.
On June 1, 30 oncologist patients from the Doctor Ramón Millán Unit in San Juan de los Morros demanded that the Ministry of Health not stop the radiotherapy machine because their lives depend on it, as reported by Radio Fe y Alegría Noticias.
Apparently, the order to close the machines would be due to equipment wear.
Given this, the Suárez family began to collect the money to be able to pay for the 30 radiotherapy sessions in a private medical center, among the national options, the most accessible is in Maracay at $2,800.
Paying for treatment in Bolívar state by the private sector is between 6,000 and 7,800 dollars.
Difficult
Going through the disease process “has been difficult,” confesses Suárez, since they do not have the financial resources.
“We have done everything possible, raffles, festivals, everything,” he alleges.
The group deployed this August 18 in the Plaza Monumento a la CVG and the Guri de Alta Vista race to raise the money.
