AFAC spreads circulars to regulate aviation medicine

The Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC) issued a series of circulars on advice for the Aviation Medicine Civihe; among the provisions are the one referring to the appointment of competent medical examiners and empowered to practice medicine.

through the circular CA DMED-01/22the Agency detailed the criteria for the appointment and training of personnel belonging to or commissioned to this decentralized body of the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT), who are involved in the activities of the Civil Aviation Medicine System.

With this circular, the AFAC establishes the provisions related to the way and manner of reporting incapacitation episodes suffered or presented by aeronautical technical personnel in flight, as well as the specifications to implement and report the detection of psychoactive substances by concessionaires, permit holders and service providers.

In CA DMED-05/22, reference is made to the provisions for permit holders, concessionaires, service providers and medical personnel involved in medical evaluation regarding health promotion.

With this, it seeks to reduce future medical risks for operational safety.

In circular CA DMED-06/22, the specific surveillance provisions by the AFAC to the civil aviation medicine system are detailed, as long as this area becomes part of the agency, since until then the area will continue to be part of the General Directorate of Transport Protection and Preventive Medicine.

In CA DMED-07/22, the criteria and provisions regarding the application of flexibility and medical reassessment are developed, as well as the formation of the Civil Aviation Medicine committee.

Finally, CA DMED-08/22 details the provisions for the medical evaluation and obtaining the certificate of psychophysical aptitude by aeronautical technical personnel and applicants for a training permit as aeronautical technical personnel.
