On October 4th, Aerolíneas Argentinas will resume its seasonal flights between Bariloche and El Calafate, a route that operated in previous years during the summer vacation season. In principle, operations will be available until the beginning of April.
There will be three weekly frequencies. From Bariloche, flights will depart on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 11:35, 10:55 and 12:35, respectively. Meanwhile, from El Calafate departures are scheduled for the same days, with takeoffs at 3:10 p.m., 11:30 a.m. and 9:10 a.m.
Both Cities registered high demand all year round and managed to break seasonality, as explained by the national Ministry of Tourism.
For a few seasons now, and especially since the pandemic, Bariloche became the country’s star destination. With an average hotel occupancy of 95%, it is one of the most chosen national tourist centers, both locals and foreigners attracted by the exchange gap.
It was also the most chosen destination in the last edition of Preview. It has the airport with the greatest air connectivity and greatest traffic in the country. In September, destiny will have a 20% more flights than in the same month of 2022: After a record August with more than 1,000 services, it will receive a total of 832.
The continuity of the snowfall in the mountain range caused the winter season to extend until the long weekend in October, something that the Ministry of Tourism of they define that locality as “unpublished.” For this reason, ski centers will have their slopes open in the coming weeks.
And in El Calafate hotel occupancy grew during the low season compared to last year. The Santa Cruz city had an average of 75% occupancy so far in 2023, according to data from the local Tourism Secretariat. The supply of beds in hotels already exceeds 5,000 units.
