Aeroflot Airlines plans to contract 323 Russian-made aircraft as part of the renewal of the aircraft fleet. This was stated by the Director General of the organization Sergei Alexandrovsky during a working meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“We plan to contract a total of 323 domestic aircraft, of which 73 are Sukhoi Superjet, 210 are MS-21s – these are imported aircraft in a new look with Russian engines, as well as 40 Tu-214 aircraft. These are very significant volumes, which, of course, will require additional resources from us, ”Aleksandrovsky is quoted on the Kremlin’s official website.
The general director of the airline specified that the main focus of the company in the near future will be aimed at preparing domestic aircraft for operation. “Our strategy is now being updated, but it is already fully synchronized with the comprehensive program for the development of the transport industry until 2030,” he said.
As of the end of 2021, Aeroflot’s aircraft fleet consisted of 356 units. “Of these, 59 are wide-body (Boeing 777, Boeing 747, Airbus A350, Airbus A330); 221 narrow-body medium haul (Airbus A320 and A320neo family, Boeing 737-800); 76 narrow-body regional (Superjet 100),” the company’s website stated.
