Touba, April 18 (APS) – The general secretary of the hemophilia cell of Diourbel, Sokhna Diouma Sène, pleaded, Thursday, for the creation, in Touba, of a hemophilia treatment center.

The future center must “support the National Blood Transfusion Center in Dakar,” she said Wednesday on the sidelines of the celebration of International Hemophilia Day.

”We chose Touba for [lancer] our heartfelt cry to our Caliph General, Serigne Mountakha Mbacké and at the same time to the authorities so that they allow us to have another hemophilia center here in Touba,” insisted Sokhna Diouma Sène.

The creation of a center in the capital of Mouridism will benefit patients and parents, who ”do not have the means to reach the national blood transfusion center in Dakar”, ”the only one available in the country “, according to her.

Sokhna Diouma Sène indicates that the Diourbel region has around fifty cases of hemophilia. “In Senegal, around 400 listed patients are affected by this blood disease,” she recalled.

Hemophilia is a genetic hemorrhagic disease, caused by the total or partial absence of a clotting factor.

This year, the day was celebrated under the theme “Equitable access for all: for all bleeding disorders”.
