An adviser to the Ukrainian president, Mikhailo Podolyak, hinted at Moscow’s involvement in an explosion on a strategic bridge linking Crimea with Russia, on Saturday.

“Isn’t it clear who carried out the explosion? The truck that exploded has arrived from the Russian side,” Podolyak wrote in a tweet.

In a separate tweet, Podolyak said that what happened on the bridge “is the beginning and everything illegal should be destroyed”.

“The bridge is the beginning, everything illegal must be destroyed, and everything stolen must be returned to Ukraine,” he said.

For its part, the Russian Foreign Ministry condemned, via Telegram, Ukrainian statements regarding Saturday’s explosion on a strategic bridge linking Crimea with Russia, saying that this indicates the “terrorist nature” of Kiev.

In the same context, the Russian presidency, “The Kremlin,” announced that President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on strengthening security measures to protect the Crimean Bridge, which connects the peninsula to the mainland of Russia.

“The decree authorizes the Russian Federal Security Service to organize and coordinate the necessary measures to protect transport through the Kerch Strait, the power lines between Russia and Crimea, as well as the main gas pipeline between Russia’s Krasnodar Territory and Crimea,” the Kremlin said in a statement. local.

This morning, the Russian authorities announced that a train loaded with fuel caught fire following a truck exploded over the “Kerch” bridge linking Russia with the Crimea.

Later on Saturday, the Russian Transport Ministry announced that trains might use the bridge linking Russia and Crimea once more following it was damaged in the blast.

The bridge, which consists of two parallel roads, one for cars and the other for railways, is a major and strategic supply route for Russia that was built following the annexation of Crimea in 2014.
