Karlsruhe (pm/mt) – In order to create more awareness and understanding for life with MS, Roche’s patient campaign “despite ms” came up with something special for this year’s World MS Day: THE ROADSHOW goes with its special MS Adventure bus on tour through Germany – and also makes a stop in Karlsruhe on Saturday.

Empathize with invisible symptoms
On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the Stephanplatz in Karlsruhe, visitors can experience some of the sometimes invisible symptoms typical of MS. For this purpose, there are special action stations inside the bus through which, for example, gait and balance disorders can be experienced. The bus is accompanied by neurological specialists and those affected who answer individual questions.
“trotz ms”
The “despite ms” campaign was launched in September 2017 under the name “despite ms dare to dream”. With World MS Day on May 30th, 2020, it was further developed to “I’ll stay – despite MS” and focuses on empowerment and strengthening of those affected. The central message is: “You decide and not the MS. Get your life back!” There is more information regarding the campaign here.
Free patient program
Another important element of “despite ms” is the free, multilingual and therapy-independent patient program “despite ms MY SERVICE” for those affected and their relatives. It includes a wide range of telephone advice, information and service materials. Those interested can contact here make an impression.
What is multiple sclerosis?
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a previously incurable, chronic inflammatory disease of the central nervous system (CNS), which affects around 200,000 people in Germany. It is also known as the “disease of 1,000 faces” because MS can present itself differently in each person affected. Inflammation in the brain and spinal cord means that stimuli are no longer properly transmitted and processed. This leads to numerous complaints, including signs of paralysis, extreme tiredness (fatigue), coordination and vision problems.
