Advantages of the maquila regime and tax incentives were presented to Brazilian companies

Asuncion, IP Agency.- In order to attract new business in Paraguay, a mission made up of some 39 Brazilian companies from the food and beverage sectors participated in the Technical Seminar and Opening Ceremony “Mission São Paulo Exporta 2024” held at the Brazilian Embassy.

It is worth noting that this initiative reinforces the commitment to improving the competitiveness of São Paulo SMEs, as well as promoting Brazilian integration into the international market.

The Brazilian business delegation will remain in the country until this Saturday, after which they will travel to Santiago de Chile.

During her speech, the Vice Minister of Industry, Lorena Méndez, emphasized that it is a pride for Paraguay to receive representatives of important firms. She also recalled the work carried out in the border area for the establishment of Brazilian firms and that there is more than USD 1,000 million of direct investment from the neighboring country.

“The auto parts sector, the textile sector, food, machinery and equipment are the ones that receive the most investment from Brazil in Paraguay. Our exports are always framed in food. We have many basic commodity processes, such as rice, corn and soybeans, but the auto parts and machinery sector is a sector that is growing under the Maquila regime, as is the textile sector,” explained Méndez.

During the event, the Executive Secretary of CNIME, Natalia Cáceres, shared the experiences of Brazilian firms that are already investing in the country, as well as providing clear and precise information on the incentives and opportunities that Paraguay offers.

It is worth mentioning that currently more than 11 companies in the food sector are operating under the maquila regime. Likewise, companies in this sector exported close to USD 36 million to Brazil in the last year, employing approximately 2,400 people.

The event was also attended by REDIEX Investment Promotion Specialist, Alejandro Gross Brown.
