“Activists”, “climate lawyers”, “actionists”. They name their function differently, but they have one thing in common: wanting to advance the cause of climate within the financial sector. By putting pressure on banks from the outside or raising awareness of these issues from the inside. These committed profiles also make a common observation: progress has been made in recent years, sustainable finance has moved from a marketing vector to a strategic consideration for the management of a bank, and the general public. But these steps forward are far from sufficient to achieve the major climate objectives defined by the international community, recognized these participants at a round table organized Thursday during Building Bridges.

The conference on sustainable finance organized this week in Geneva was itself the target of action by climate activists BreakFree on Monday, who wanted to denounce greenwashing. But Thursday’s round table did not result in a dumping of waste or the display of banners. It was time to reflect on the best way to influence the banking sector.
